what should you expect from a yoga class with olivia?

Olivia takes a modern and science based approach to yoga. Expect clear instructions and a logical approach to postures that might initially seem complicated. You will also learn to work with the anatomy and needs of your own body to help you get the most out of each class with us. 

Olivia has trained to an advanced level, and has won awards for the quality of her group teaching and excellence in private yoga instruction. She is a teacher of teachers, offering advanced training for other yoga teachers, and is a member of the teaching faculty on a number of 200 hour yoga teacher training courses in London each year. She also mentors newer yoga teachers going through their first few years on the job.

what are olivia’s qualifications?

Olivia Marley (ERYT-500, YACEP, FRCms) is currently studying for a Masters degree in Sport Therapy, which focuses on helping athletes (and non-athletes!) recover from injury. She holds the highest designation possible from Yoga Alliance - the international governing body for yoga teachers - which is based on having completed extended periods of advanced level training and at least 2000 hours of teaching experience. This level of experience means she is also a registered provider of further education to other yoga teachers. Olivia has trained to an advanced level in vinyasa flow with Jason Crandell, who was named “one of the teachers shaping the future of yoga” by Yoga Journal. She has also completed a further 200 hours of training with Bridget Woods Kramer of the Anusara School of Hatha Yoga, one of the UK’s most experienced and well respected yoga teachers, plus more focused trainings in areas such as yin yoga, yoga for athletes, injury prevention and yoga therapeutics. Olivia is also a certified Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist, Roll Model Method Practitioner and has trained with Immaculate Dissection. She has a particular interest in working with athletes and helping them to enhance their performance while also minimising the risk of injury.

what is olivia’s background?

Olivia was dragged along to her first class as a teenager by her mum after complaining of back pain. But she knew it was definitely having an effect on her body when after a few months the lower back discomfort had subsided and she managed to touch her toes with straight legs for the first time. Since that time she has seen her strength, flexibility and balance all improve steadily. She has also found her yoga practice helps her deal more effectively with the stresses of city life, providing her both with the ability to keep stress levels to a minimum and also with skills to remain calm when unavoidable work or personal life pressures arise. With a previous career in law, Olivia understands the needs of busy city workers and can tailor her teaching to suit her students. Classes can be energetic and physically challenging or more steady and grounding depending on the needs of the students.
