Advanced anatomy and injury management for yoga teachers course

Then my advanced anatomy and injury management course for yoga teachers might be just what you are looking for. This course is packed with information about the body but is more than just a straightforward anatomy course - it’s the course I wish I’d had when I started teaching! It includes down to earth explanations of what a range of different injuries mean, practical advice on how to help students that show up in your classes, and includes example written and video sequences that you can use and adapt for some of the most common groups of injuries I’ve come across in the decade I’ve spent teaching yoga. It will leave you feeling more confident in supporting your students and modifying your classes so that those with injuries can take part (and those without probably won’t even notice the difference!).

This course works through the body from the ground up. We look at these key areas: feet and legs; hips; spine and core; shoulders; and upper extremities (meaning arms, hands and neck!). Within that structure you receive:

  • an anatomy lecture about that area of the body

  • a lecture describing injuries I have most commonly had students bring to class relating to that area of the body, and how you might want to modify an asana practice for each of them

  • a recording of a class being led through a sequence suitable for one or more of the injuries we have discussed, plus accompanying sequencing notes

  • full reference list of all the studies, papers and resources we used to compile this content in case you want to refer to any of them.

How does this course work?

Option 1: if you want to combine in person study with online content

The next intake for this course will take place at 3Tribes studio in Borough, London, and will be set over 5 different weeks. On the Monday of each week of the course you will receive an on demand video lecture about the anatomy of that area of the body. Then on each Saturday we get together at our beautiful Borough studio for a discussion about the injuries that show up in that area of the body and to practice a class sequence tailored for students with one or more of the injuries we have discussed. The in studio Saturday sessions will run on:

You will also receive lifetime access to the anatomy lectures, recordings of the class sequences and accompanying sequence notes, and recorded lectures about the injuries we discuss so that you can refer back to them as many times as you like. We will provide a full reference list of all the scientific studies, papers and resources used to compile this content.

What are Olivia’s qualifications to teach anatomy and physiology?

I’m currently studying for a Masters degree in Sport Therapy, which is about diagnosing and treating injured athletes, and then the rehabilitation process of bringing them back to full performance. I’m also registered as an E-RYT500 and YACEP (which is the highest accreditation available from Yoga Alliance International and means I can provide continuing education to other teachers). I teach anatomy and physiology on a number of different teacher training courses throughout the UK and also lead regular workshops for teachers. I have trained extensively with world renowned teachers Jason Crandell, Bridget Woods Kramer and Tiffany Cruikshank, plus undertaking more focused trainings in areas such as yoga for athletes, injury prevention, yin and yoga therapeutics. I have also broadened my training in anatomy beyond the yoga world: I’m a certified Functional Range Conditioning mobility specialist and have completed 50 hours of undergraduate level anatomy training with Complete Anatomy from 34D Medical and trained with Immaculate Dissection.
